How much will early intervention cost?
The Infant & Toddler Connection (ITC) of the Heartland provides Early Intervention services through Virginia’s Part C Early Intervention system.
Cost for Early Intervention Services
Some Early Intervention services are available at no cost to families. Other services may be billed to public or private insurance, including Medicaid, when applicable.
Families are informed about any potential costs before services begin and have the opportunity to discuss questions or concerns with their Service Coordinator.
A family’s ability, or inability, to pay does not determine whether their child receives Early Intervention services.
Services Provided at No Cost to Families
The following Early Intervention activities are provided at no cost:
- Child Find activities, including referral activities
- Developmental screening
- Eligibility determination
- Assessment for service planning
- Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) development and reviews
- Service coordination
- Transition planning
Insurance and Payment Information
With parent consent, ITC Heartland may bill Medicaid or private insurance for certain Early Intervention services identified on the IFSP.
Your Service Coordinator will explain:
- How insurance may be used
- Any family rights related to insurance billing
- Required consent forms
- Available protections and safeguards
Families may choose whether to provide consent for the use of private insurance.
Family Rights
Families participating in Early Intervention have financial rights and procedural safeguards under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Your Service Coordinator will review this information with you and answer any questions before services begin.
