6. On thick ice
The largest gift in Longwood history, from Joan ‘64 and Macon Brock, created the Brock Experiences, which supports transformational learning experiences such as the Longwood in the Arctic Circle program.

For the second year, Longwood's Lancer Park was one of the sites "under the microscope" during the Virginia BioBlitz.
9. From VP Debate to the Super Bowl
Allyson Stone '18 and Ryan Carey '19 impressed the Fox News production manager during the Vice Presidential Debate, so he asked them to work on a second assignment for Super Bowl week.

Longwood's Call Me Mister program, an initiative designed to increase the pool of available teachers from more diverse backgrounds, celebrated its 10th anniversary this year!

13. Eclipse viewing party
In the early afternoon on Monday, Aug. 21, the skies darkened over Farmville and much of the rest of the U.S. as the moon moved in front of the sun for a rare solar eclipse... and the Longwood community had front row seats.

In its fourth year, the Virginia Children's Book Festival brought more than 7,000 children from all over Virginia to Longwood’s campus to hear from their favorite authors and illustrators.
