Computer Labs

Email

All students are assigned a Longwood Live Mail email account. Live Mail features include a full-service calendar, an address book, signatures, and access to Office 365. Students should check their Live Mail account often as many offices across campus use this communication method.

LancerNet ID and Password

Upon admittance, each student will be assigned a LancerNet ID and password.  This ID and password will be used to access Canvas, myLongwood and Academic Computing Lab computers.  The LancerNet password must meet the complexity standards as defined in the University's Password Management Policy and is set to expire on a one hundred and twenty-day cycle. 

CYPHIR, a web-based tool that will allow students to change their LancerNet password is available at https://piedmont.longwood.edu/cyphir/.

Laptop Computer Program

All incoming students should bring a laptop computer. View Longwood's minimum specification recommendations.

MyLongwood

MyLongwood is a web portal available to students, faculty and staff. Students will use the myLongwood portal to perform important functions such as registration for classes, checking grades, and accessing student account and financial aid information.

Printing, Computer Labs (Students)

Printing is available at the rate of nine cents per page for black and white and one dollar per page for color.

Use Lancer Ca$h to Print: Make sure that you have money on your Lancer Ca$h ID card BEFORE printing in the computer labs and the Greenwood Library.

To print swipe your ID card and pay for the print job at the printer before the job is released.

Problems with the Lancer CA$H purchase should be reported to the Lancer Card and Campus Services Office at 434-395-2715 or email lancercard@longwood.edu

Residence Hall Network Access

There will be a network connection for each student in their residence hall/apartment. ALL students will be required to register their personal computers with Shentel. 

Student Technology Support

Student Support Technicians are here to help! The Student Support Desk is located on the ground floor of French Hall at the Help Desk.

Monday-Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

No appointment needed. 

Wireless

The LancerNet wireless network is available for student, faculty, and staff use.

Shentel wireless is available in the residence halls and Longwood managed apartments. Students will create a username and password to be used to access Shentel wireless during their hard-wired registration on Shentel's network.
