The Office for Sustainability develops and supports initiatives that help reduce the University’s environmental footprint and promote a more sustainable future.
The Office for Sustainability (OFS) provides leadership and guidance in planning, developing, organizing and implementing programs and activities that promote campus sustainability.
Longwood has adopted the definition of sustainability from the Bruntland Report as that which "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." The OFS will provide a comprehensive, University-wide approach that encompasses the three components of sustainability – economic security, environmental protection and social justice.
