Please join us for the Spring Showcase for Research and Creative Inquiry on April 23, 2019. Please see the general information below about the event:
Visitors and Visitor Parking:
The event is free and open to the public, so feel free to encourage students to invite friends, family, and community members. Even if your students are not presenting during the Showcase, please encourage your students to come to see the presentations on April 23. Free parking and shuttle buses for visitors will be available at the Pine Street Parking Lot (near the baseball field).
Registration:
Undergraduate presenting students will need to stop by the registration table in Blackwell Foyer sometime before their presentation. The students will check in there and receive a nametag, their poster number (if applicable), and other important information. The registration table in the Blackwell foyer will open at 8:00 A.M. on April 23.
Graduate students will register and receive their nametags and other important information between 1:30–3:30 P.M. in the Upchurch University Center.
Poster presenters:
Students may put up their poster 15 minutes before the start of their session. Push pins and poster clips will be provided. Volunteers will be on hand to assist the students. Students must take their poster down immediately at the end of the session.
Poster drop-off and recycling:
Students and faculty are welcome to come in early and drop off posters in the Prince Edward Room (just around the corner from Blackwell) before the presentation time. The poster should be rolled up, secured with a rubber band, and labeled on the outside with the name of the faculty mentor and/or student's name and presentation time. There will be a clearly marked area for each poster session time so please make sure you leave the poster in the correct area. The poster drop-off room will also be available on
Monday, April 22 from 12:00PM–5:00PM if you would like to drop posters off the day before.
If you wish to recycle a poster at the end of the day, a recycling box will be available in the Virginia Room (next door to the Prince Edward Room).
Oral presenters:
Students need to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of their session to load their presentation onto the classroom computer. A session chair will be on hand to assist the students with this process.
Opening Address and Award Ceremony:
The opening address will be in the Greenwood Library Atrium beginning at 8:15 A.M. Light breakfast refreshments and coffee will be served.
The Longwood Excellence in Research and Creative Inquiry and INCITE Awards Ceremony will be held in the Bedford atrium at 12:30 P.M. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the accomplishments of our students.
Finally, please use the time when your students are not presenting to make your way around campus and enjoy what all of our students are presenting!
