Emergency Call Monitoring and Answering

The Farmville Communications Center monitors and answers all 911 calls that originate from the Longwood University campus telephone system, and all 911 calls that originate outside of Longwood University's telephone system.

Answering

Blue Emergency Phones and residential hall courtesy phones are strategically located throughout the University properties and are a direct link to the Farmville Communications Center.

When the emergency phone's red button is pushed the Farmville Communications Center dispatcher can identify the location where the call originated and dispatch a Longwood University Police Officer, even if the caller is unable to verbally communicate.

Monitoring

The center is equipped with the Lenel On in residence halls and administrative buildings.

The Farmville Communications Center monitors the intrusion alarm systems in crucial campus locations.

They monitor the radio traffic from other local and neighboring jurisdictions and are a general information center for faculty, staff, students and visitors.

On-Campus Emergency

The Farmville Communications Center dispatch is responsible for activating the siren/voice and text messaging alert systems in the event of an actual or suspected campus emergency incident/situation.

Radio Transmissions

The Farmville Communications Cente handles radio transmissions from the Student Safety Organization and from other Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice agencies.
