Welcome, Class of 2028!

We can’t wait to see you on campus in August 2024 for your first official days as a Lancer! Of course, if you can’t wait until then, we’ve lined up plenty of opportunities for you to visit campus. In the meantime, here’s a checklist of ways to stay on track as you transition to life as a Lancer.

January - May

  1. Join us for a Longwood 28 event!

Longwood 28 Accepted Student Events are for newly admitted Lancers enrolling for fall 2024. If you have already claimed your spot or if you're still deciding, this event is for you!

  2. Complete your in-state tuition form

  3. Activate your myLongwood

MyLongwood is Longwood's one-stop student portal. Update your information, check on your financial aid, even access your unofficial transcripts and course information.

    Activate your myLongwood portal now.

  4. Set up your official Longwood email account

Your Longwood email account (also known as Live Mail) is where you'll receive lots of important information—be sure to check it often! To begin set up, you'll need your LancerNet ID which was sent to your personal email address.

  5. Submit your FAFSA by March 1

The FAFSA priority filing deadline is March 1st, so file early to ensure you receive the maximum amount of aid! Visit studentaid.gov to get started.

New students who complete a 2024-25 FAFSA will receive financial aid offers starting in late March. After that, students are awarded weekly when new FAFSA’s are received.

    For more information, visit longwood.edu/financialaid.

  6. Prepare for class registration

Start Here is just that—your starting point! This comprehensive guide to academics and first semester registration at Longwood provides all of the information you will need to enroll in your first semester courses. Start Here will open in March 2024. We will host informational webinars to help guide students through the entire registration process.

Join the 6pm Start Here webinars on zoom on Tuesday, April 2 or Monday, April 15 or watch the recording here.

You'll also want to understand more about DegreeWorks, Registration and FERPA. We will host webinars on these at 6pm on Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 16. You can also watch a recording of this webinar.

  7. Review your financial aid offer

As soon as your financial aid offer is available, you’ll be able to view it within your email. Take time to review the offer and understand the different types of aid. You can choose which awards you want to accept directly in myLongwood. If you have questions, contact the Financial Aid staff at finaid@Longwood.edu or 434.395.2077.

  8. Submit verification requirements for financial aid by May 10

Financial Aid verification assures that financial aid dollars are going to the right students. As part of this, every year a number of Longwood financial aid recipients are randomly chosen to have their FAFSA data double-checked, or verified.

If your FAFSA was selected for verification, the Office of Financial Aid will notify you by email as well as in your initial financial aid offer. You may view the items you need to submit to complete the verification process in your myLongwood portal.

The priority deadline to submit the required information is May 10th, but the sooner we receive your information the sooner we can finalize your financial aid offer.

Contact the Office of Financial Aid with any questions.

  9. Confirm your New Lancer Orientation date

Beginning in March, students will receive an email about registering for New Lancer Orientation. Orientation is scheduled by major and is being held the week of July 15-19, 2024.
