Dwayne Jefferson ’97 was named the 2024 Pacific Principal of the Year by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Pacific region. Jefferson is the principal of The Sullivans Elementary School in Yokosuka, Japan, which is the DoDEA’s largest school in the Pacific region.

Principal of the Sullivans School since 2023, Jefferson joined DoDEA in 2014 as a math support specialist and moved into administration as an assistant principal in 2015, then accepted his first assignment as a principal in 2017. In addition to his Longwood degree in business  administration/marketing,

Jefferson holds a master’s degree in public administration from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree in elementary education from
Virginia State.
