Longwood University’s College of Business and Economics has been reaccredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the premier accrediting agency for business schools.
Reaccreditation, which happens regularly every five years, means that Longwood’s College of Business and Economics is among the top five percent of all schools worldwide offering bachelor’s degrees in business.
“Our exceptional faculty, staff, and leadership work each day to create an environment where Longwood’s business and economics students are challenged, supported, and learn at the very highest level,” said Sara Neher, interim dean of the college. “We are very pleased that AACSB again recognized that dedication and our pursuit of our mission to create citizen leaders.”

Longwood’s business and economics programs have long been accredited by AACSB, which was founded in 1916 and is the longest-serving global accreditation body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. Achieving AACSB accreditation is a rigorous process and, once achieved, each institution participates in a five-year continuous improvement peer-review process to maintain high quality and extend its accreditation.
The AACSB review board noted as particular strengths the McGaughy Professional Development Center, which provides a strong emphasis on career readiness, the work of the Alumni and Corporate Advisory Board and Small Business Development Center, and especially the connections between faculty and students that lead to professional publications.
Longwood’s College of Business and Economics offers BS and Online MBA degree programs. It also houses the Longwood’s Center for Cyber Security, Center for Financial Responsibility, McGaughy Internship and Professional Development Center, and the SNVC Leadership Institute. Students choose from a number of majors and minors, including management, marketing, finance, real estate, economics, information systems, and cyber security.
