Why did you decide you wanted to come to Longwood?
I decided I wanted to attend Longwood University because of its excellent nursing program as well as its location very near my hometown.
What is one fun fact that people might be surprised to learn about you?
Not only am I a Longwood legacy, I am the fourth generation in my family to attend the university. My mom graduated in 2000, my grandfather graduated in 1988 and my great grandmother was a member of the Class of 1947.
I plan to bring my determination. My academic jacket quote was “mind over matter.” I know if I put my mind to anything, it doesn’t matter what it is, I will succeed.

What made you decide to pursue a career in nursing?
I was exposed to the medical field from a young age because my great-aunt has her own pediatric practice in Farmville. When I was 5, I thought she had super powers because she always knew what was wrong with little kids. Of course, as I got older I found out it was because she had years of medical school training. But that is what inspired my love of medicine.
Who is one person who has had a major impact on your life and why?
I have a 2-year-old daughter named Brooklyn. She motivates me, inspires me and challenges me to be the best person I can be every single day.
What is one special thing you will bring with you to Longwood?
I plan to bring my determination. My academic jacket quote was “mind over matter.” I know if I put my mind to anything, it doesn’t matter what it is, I will succeed.
