Longwood University has again been named one of the top regional universities in the United States by Princeton Review, one of the most popular and influential college rankings published each year. Being named to the Best Colleges list is an honor reserved for only 13 percent of four-year colleges and universities in the country.

The 2020 edition of the popular and influential college guide was released today, and included student comments about Longwood praising its reputation for an abundance of opportunities for students to not only get involved in clubs and organizations but to engage with full-time faculty members. The Review puts heavy emphasis on feedback from students at universities in its ranking metric.
“At Longwood, all my professors know me by name and genuinely care about my education,” said one student reviewer. “Hands-on experience is very common as part of learning,” said another.
Longwood has so many clubs, organizations, and resources so students can really try and find out who they are and what they are really passionate about.

Students also praised the history and tradition of Longwood, and its culture of participation. “Longwood has so many clubs, organizations, and resources so students can really try and find out who they are and what they are really passionate about,” said one student.
The rankings are based on surveys of more than 140,000 students across the country, who reported on their experiences on campus, but also take into account standard metrics like affordability, selectivity, and financial aid availability.
“We are pleased that Longwood has again been recognized as one of the top universities in the country,” said President W. Taylor Reveley IV. “Being included on this list is particularly gratifying, as much is based on real student experiences on campus. At a time when a personal touch and sense of tight-knit community seem increasingly rare on college campuses, Longwood stands out as committed to the full residential learning experience, to affordability and to the small classes of our unique Civitae Core Curriculum. We’re glad what we offer is resonating with our students, who know us best and are always our best ambassadors.”
