Longwood music faculty to present recital, Aug. 22

Longwood University’s 6th annual First Night Faculty Gala Recital, presented by the music department to mark the beginning of the academic year, will be presented Monday, Aug. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Molnar Recital Hall in Wygal Hall.

The recital, free and open to the public, will feature performances by faculty members in both solo and small group situations. A wide variety of musical styles will be represented, ranging from a Bach duet to a two-piano, eight-hand version of "The Stars and Stripes Forever."

"This concert helps get the academic year off to a good start and also sets examples of performance standards and concert practices for our students and audiences," said Dr. Gordon Ring, Simpson Distinguished Professor in the music department.
