Longwood University is one of the nation’s "Best Value" colleges and universities, according to The Princeton Review. The education services company selected Longwood as one of 75 public institutions to be featured in its book, The Best Value Colleges: 2013 Edition. This is the second year that Longwood has made the list.
In its profile of Longwood, the editors at The Princeton Review say the university has a "small, private-college feel for a public school price." Longwood students surveyed by The Princeton Review said Longwood offers "small class sizes and one-on-one time with professors" in an "intimate atmosphere" that "gives you the best chance to succeed in your field of choice."
Robert Franek, Princeton Review’s senior vice president/publisher and lead author of The Best Value College: 2013 Edition, said, "We commend Longwood and all of our extraordinary 2013 ‘Best Value Colleges’ for their stellar academics and for all they are doing to make their colleges affordable, especially for applicants with need in these tough economic times."
The Best Value Colleges: 2013 Edition, subtitled "The 150 Best-Buy Colleges and What It Takes to Get In," features profiles of 75 public and 75 private colleges based on assessments that examined more than 30 data points covering academics, cost and financial aid. The company chose the 150 schools from 650 colleges and universities at which it conducted institutional and student surveys for this project in 2011-12. The profiles are available at http://www.princetonreview.com/best-value-colleges-aspx.
The "Best Value Colleges" list and an exclusive database of information are also posted on a special area of usatoday.com at http://www.bestvaluecolleges.usatoday.com. The section includes detailed statistics and facts about each college and sorts the list several ways, including by state, tuition, enrollment and average freshman grant. USA Today has been The Princeton Review’s publishing partner for this project since 2009.
The Princeton Review is not affiliated with Princeton University and is not a magazine. The Princeton Review originated its annual "Best Value Colleges" project in 2004.
