Marking the halfway point of the fall semester, Oktoberfest is a weekend of fun, relaxation and spirit that acts as a refresher for students. Many distinctive events make up a few days of dancing, stories and—perhaps most importantly—paint.
Oktoberfest is organized by Longwood Geist Chapter of Mortar Board
Spirit Week wouldn’t be the same without the annual Oktoberfest Kickoff Bonfire, where Longwood’s history is revealed through stories from Dean of Students Larry Robertson and special alumni guests.
Held on Stubbs Mall, students sip piping hot apple cider as they are transported back in time to find out why Longwood traditions are so special.
Step 1: Line up with your class.
Step 2: Fill a plastic cup with paint.
Step 3: Fling paint on fellow students.
Sound fun? It is. Students who enter in odd years are green, even years are red, and it really doesn’t matter who gets the most paint on the other class because red+green=blue!
A fun weekend on campus wouldn’t be the same without live music.
A day full of tunes—from country to pop to rock—is capped with a top performer who closes the weekend in style!
