When was the Joan Perry Brock Center opened?
Longwood opened the Joan Perry Brock Center Friday, Aug. 25, 2023 at 10 a.m. with a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Are the building and new team store open when there are no events going on?
Yes. The new building features a team store, which will stock and sell Longwood apparel and other sports-related items. The store will be open to the public starting Friday, and generally be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and during basketball games. The store is accessible from the south entrance (facing Willett Hall).
The building’s main doors and lobbies (facing Brock Commons) will generally be open during regular business hours. There is no public entrance on the east side of the building (facing Moss and Johns).
Are tickets available for basketball games?
Students will have free admittance to basketball games, as well as their own entrance via the corridor between Willett and the new building. Members of the Lancer Lunatics will enjoy priority student seating behind the Longwood team bench (visit lancerlink.longwood.edu and search “Lancer Lunatics” to join). Information about how students can secure their free tickets will be shared this fall.
For members of the general public, season tickets are on sale for men’s and women’s basketball games. Season tickets cost $100 each and reserve a padded seat at every home men’s and women’s game for the 2023-24 season. Purchase yours today at go.longwood.edu/seasontickets. Students who wish to reserve a padded seat, rather than sit in the student section, are of course free to purchase their own season or individual game tickets.
Individual game tickets will go on sale this fall.
Where can I find a schedule for this year’s basketball games?
We are finalizing our schedules for this coming basketball season and will announce our non-conference dates and opponents shortly. Conference schedules are set by the Big South and will be announced this fall. 2023-24 basketball schedules will be published at longwoodlancers.com.
What events besides basketball games will be held at the Joan Perry Brock Center?
Like many arenas associated with college campuses, we look forward to welcoming a variety of artists to perform at the Joan Perry Brock Center. While it will take some time for word about the new facility to get out, we will be working to bring to campus events that will appeal to a wide range of students and members the Southside community, too. Those non-basketball events will include touring musicians and comedians, speakers, and other gatherings and events.
The schedule for non-basketball events is also being finalized, and some events will be announced soon, along with ticketing information.
Will students have to pay for non-basketball events at the Joan Perry Brock Center?
Some events in the arena will be Longwood campus events for students – for instance Convocation, or certain speakers, or potentially the arena serving as a site for Oktoberfest or Spring Weekend events in case of inclement weather. Any such events will remain free to students.
With other events such as concerts, performers will be contracting with the arena and tickets will be sold to the general public. In most such events, students who wish to attend would also have to purchase tickets. However, JPB staff will in many instances plan to offer discounted student tickets to such events.
