Intro Outstanding Bills

Outstanding Bills

If you have outstanding financial obligations with Longwood University, please resolve these issues prior to move-in

In accordance with Longwood University policy, any student with an outstanding bill will not be permitted to move into Longwood-managed housing or to consume dining hall meals.

Questions regarding outstanding bills can be directed to Cashiering and Student Accounts (434)395-2067 or Financial Aid (434)395-2077.

We look forward to the arrival of new and returning students for Fall 2025.

Move-in dates vary based on residence hall and student type:

  • New students assigned to Johns Hall, Moss Hall, Lancer Park, Longwood Landings, Register Hall, Sharp Hall, Stubbs Hall, and Wheeler Hall will move in on Wednesday, August 20 and Thursday, August 21, 2025.
  • Returning students assigned to Register Hall, Sharp Hall, and Wheeler Hall may move in between Friday, August 22 and Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Printable parking maps are also available to help you plan ahead. Your attention to these details helps ensure a smoother move-in process for all students and families.

Things to Think About Before Move-In

Personal Property/Renter's Insurance

  • Do NOT leave your personal belongings unattended.
  • RCL strongly encourages students to invest in a Renter's Insurance policy. Please review current insurance policies to determine if your personal property is covered while living on campus.
  • RCL encourages students to limit move-in assistance from family and friends to 3 helpers in an effort to decrease congestion on move-in day.
  • Students are encouraged to bring their own dollies or handcart.

Talk to Your Future Roommate

Make an effort to contact your future roommate(s) to discuss what items you are bringing to campus and how you would like to decorate your room. And remember, "STUFF" multiplies.

Moderation is always a helpful packing guideline when you prepare to live with others.

August Move-In

Farmville is very hot in August. We've done this before (a lot) and we recommend the following:

  • Wear light-colored, comfortable clothing, and sturdy shoes
  • Bring and drink plenty of fluids
  • Take breaks to prevent overheating

If you have questions pertaining to the campus or the Town of Farmville, ask any staff member.

Need- to- Know At Check-In

Please observe Longwood University’s Smoke-Free policy. Smoking is permitted only in the Designated Smoking Areas of campus.

Arrival

Arrive at your designated move-in time.

Plan to report to the lobby or check-in location of your assigned residence hall.

Check-In

Staff will verify your room assignment and identity (please provide picture identification) then will provide you with keys and other check-in material.

Parking

  • Do NOT park on the grass.
  • Parking Regulations are in effect year-round.
  • Move unloaded vehicles, immediately to the appropriate student parking area.
  • Vehicles that park out of their designated parking areas will be ticketed and/or towed.
  • Please park correctly from the first day you arrive on campus to avoid this unpleasant experience.

Moving/Unpacking

DO NOT drag personal belongings or University furniture across the floors. Please respect the hard work of our housekeeping staff.

All Longwood issued room furniture MUST STAY in the assigned room/apartment.

Maintenance and Housekeeping

Report any maintenance or housekeeping needs online with a work order.

Clean-up/Breakdown

All cardboard should be crushed and taken outside to the designated recycling sites (look for the large dumpsters).
