Local Organizations

A local Fraternity or Sorority is an organization that operates under the provisions of Title IX of the educational  Amendments and IRS Code 501.c.7 but which does not belong to a national or international governing organization. At Longwood University, Alpha Beta Psi Sorority and Gamma Psi Fraternity are members of the Greek Councils, recognized by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, but operate at a local level, as opposed to reporting to a national or international office.
