Federal Pell Grant
Awarded to eligible undergraduate students who have not already earned a bachelor’s, graduate, or professional degree. Award amounts are determined by the Department of Education, and are based on your Expected Family Contribution from the FASFA as well as your enrollment status (full-time or part-time).
Federal Supplement Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Awarded to undergraduate, Pell eligible students with the highest demonstrated financial need, based on the FAFSA. Award amounts may vary from year to year based on the availability of funding. Early applicants will be given priority when FSEOG is awarded.
Virginia State Grants
VGAP Grant
The VGAP Grant is a need-based grant awarded to Virginia residents. Eligibility is determined each year based on the information from your FAFSA. In addition to demonstrated need, students must maintain continuous full-time enrollment (minimum 12 credits per semester), a 2.0 cumulative GPA and advance a grade level each year. Students may receive a VGAP Grant for one year per grade level.
Students may not be eligible if the FAFSA is filed after Longwood’s Priority Filing Deadline, March 1.
VA Commonwealth Grant
The VA Commonwealth Grant is a need-based grant offered to Virginia residents. Eligibility is determined each year based on the information from your FAFSA. In addition to demonstrated financial need, students must maintain at least half-time enrollment (minimum 6 credits per semester). Awards will be reduced for students taking fewer than 12 credits.
Students may not be eligible if the FAFSA is filed after Longwood’s Priority Filing Deadline, March 1.
2-Year College Transfer Grant
The 2-Year College Transfer Grant is available to Virginia Residents who have received an Associate Degree at a Virginia two-year public institution.
Students must:
- Enroll full-time (minimum 12 credits) at a Virginia four-year institution within the year following the completion of the Associate Degree program
- Have an EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) as determined by the FAFSA of $12,000 or less
- Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
Awards are limited to 3 years or 70 credits hours. Students may not be eligible if the FAFSA is filed after Longwood’s Priority Filing Deadline, March 1.
