Dr. Alecia Blackwood, assistant professor of education, was notified last week by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) of her selection as one of seven college and university professors across the country as a 2024 AI Explorations for EPPs Faculty Fellow. During this year-long Fellowship, Dr. Blackwood and her Fellow colleagues will focus on artificial intelligence explorations and their practical use in school environments.
Dr. Blackwood will participate in specialized professional learning and coaching around AI education for EPPs (Educator Preparation Providers), propose and implement projects to develop instructional materials that EPP faculty nationally and internationally can use to educate future teachers on transformational learning strategies around AI and STEM education, and present her initial work at the 2024 ISTELive Conference in Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Blackwood joined the Department of Education and Counseling in August 2022. She is the author of Ubuntu Pedagogy: Becoming a Responsive Ubuntu Educator, a member of the Lancer for a Day committee, the Summer Literacy Institute planning committee, and the Lifelong Learning committee. She also serves as a CAFE DEI Faculty Consultant.
