Wendy Thompson
Assistant Professor of Nursing

Dr. Wendy Thompson grew up in Chesterfield, Virginia and earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in November 2018 at Liberty University.  She has practiced as a nurse for 22 years and has taught nursing for 7 years.  She has worked in the Medical-Surgical Nursing, Women’s Health, and Outpatient settings.  She discovered that teaching was her passion while precepting newly graduate nurses on the Medical-Surgical Unit. 

She is particularly interested in researching the undergraduate nursing student’s experience with higher education which an emphasis on how to better with success.  Dr. Thompson is an Assistant Professor in the Nursing Program, teaching Junior-level students Medical-Surgical Nursing.  While not a work, Dr. Thompson, enjoys reading and swimming.
