Jen Spisak is an associate professor of School Librarianship in the Education and Counseling department. She spent twenty years in K-12 education, twelve of which were as a school librarian. As a school librarian, she was honored to receive her school’s Teacher of the Year award as well as the Virginia Association of School Librarians School Librarian of the Year award.
Jen earned her Ph.D. in Education with a focus in Research and Evaluation from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2018. She holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Virginia Tech.
Jen is an active member of the Virginia Association of School Librarians, the American Association of School Librarians, and Young Adult Library Services Association. She has written articles for a variety of library journals as well as two books: Multimedia Learning Stations: Facilitating Instruction, Strengthening the Research Process, Building Collaborative Partnerships and Cataloging for School Librarians (3rd ed.). She is a frequent presenter at state, national and international conferences.
