Wendy Snow is an Associate Professor of Reading, Literacy, and Learning (RLL) in the Department of Education and Counseling. She regularly teaches RLL courses in Emergent and Early Literacy, Literacy Research, and Developing Writers in addition to the Applied Practica and Professional Portfolio. Dr. Snow has a bachelor's degree in Psychology, a master's degree in Teaching (PreK-8), and a Ph.D. in Reading Education, each from the University of Virginia.
Dr. Snow has over fifteen years of public school teaching experience including serving as a classroom elementary and middle school teacher, reading specialist, and special education teacher. She also served as a university reading clinic supervisor and RLL Program Director. Her research interests include early literacy, reading difficulties such as dyslexia, and rural education. Dr. Snow is active in several literacy professional organizations, currently serving as president of the Virginia College Literacy Educators, a chapter of the Virginia State Literacy Association.
