When you join Communication Studies, you don’t just become a major, you become a member of a COMMunity. We use this phrase to signify the commitment and caring between students and between students and faculty. Our program promotes many opportunities to develop your professional skills outside the classroom and create life-long friendships.
Public Relations Student Society of America. Activities include professional networking luncheons with Richmond PRSA; attendance at national PRSA conference; development of community publicity campaigns and events

Positions include writing, producers, editors, videographers, and featured talent

National Communication Association Honor Society. Activities include professional development and social events developed for majors, creating campaigns to encourage academic success and leadership, and fostering relationships with Communication Studies alumni. Membership by induction only for majors meeting high academic standards
These clubs are entirely student-managed with expert guidance from faculty and professional advisors.
Beyond these communication-specific organizations, our majors engage their communication expertise through involvement in Residence Life, Longwood Ambassadors, Student Government, Lancer Productions, Greek Life, Club Sports, Relay for Life organizing committee, and many other clubs!
