During the 2021 Convocation ceremony that was held Thursday, September 9th, Dr. Kim Little, chair of the nursing department and professor of nursing, and Dr. Sarah Tanner-Anderson, director of the Education Leadership program and assistant professor of educational leadership, were recognized for their commitment and love for Longwood
Dr. Little was awarded the William David Stuart Leadership and Service Award. This award is given to a faculty member annually that exhibits outstanding leadership throughout the heart of Longwood. Over the last academic year, Dr. Little devoted countless hours of her time towards helping Longwood University faculty and staff become vaccinated during the COVID-19 vaccine clinics. "Dr. Little spent many hours working with University administration, Piedmont Health District, University Health and nursing faculty (and students) to launch the clinics." "Her commitment to the University community is apparent in her efforts to ensure faculty and staff were immunized in a safe and timely fashion," stated her peers.
Dr. Tanner-Anderson was awarded the Junior Faculty Award for her devoted love for education, school administration, and Longwood University students. Her colleagues stated, "She encourages her students to not only be consumers of research but to find ways to engage in their own areas of study." "In combination with Dr. Tanner-Anderson's extensive knowledge about school administration, her energy and enthusiasm create an atmosphere ripe for learning. Students value and respect both her expertise and effectiveness as an educator."
