Student works with supervisor in a classroom during a work shadow

Get a real-world glimpse into your future career.

Longwood's Work Shadow Program connects you with professionals and alumni for a firsthand look at daily work life and industry environments. Whether shadowing for a few hours, a full day, or multiple days, this experience helps you explore your career interests and gain authentic insights.

Why shadow?

  • Observe professionals at work and explore career paths.
  • Ask questions, network, and receive personalized advice.
  • Translate classroom learning into a workplace context.
I would recommend doing the work shadow program through the career center. If you have the ability, it provides a wonderful insight into what the workplace you plan to pursue, or maybe not even pursue but are looking into, is like. It also allows you to network and engage in a setting that you might not be able to look into until you’re actually in the role.
