Student meeting their alum mentor during a catch up session

Guidance. Connection. Growth.

Longwood’s Mentorship Program connects students with alumni mentors who provide support and insight on career exploration. Designed for students in their junior year, this program builds meaningful relationships that strengthen the Lancer community and prepare students for success beyond campus.

How It Works

  • Get Matched - Each student is paired with a Longwood alum in their field of interest.
  • Meet Regularly – Mentees and mentors connect at least three times during the spring semester, virtually or in person, for about an hour each session.
  • Learn & Grow - Together, you’ll discuss goal setting, networking, career readiness, and other topics guided by a mentee and mentor handbook.
  • Stay Supported - Students attend an orientation, complete check-ins during the semester, and receive guidance from the Career Success team.

The anticipated time commitment is 8-10 hours total.

Timeline

  • September–October: Nominations and applications accepted.
  • October–November: Students notified of acceptance and matched with mentors if they wish to continue in the program.
  • January: Orientation and kickoff the mentorship journey.
  • January–April: Mentorship meetings, activities, and check-ins.
