Leslee was selected as this year’s MBA recipient of the based on her compassion and desire to help others have a better life through her active involvement with Virginia Supportive Housing (VSH). She has been dedicated to helping end homelessness in Virginia for more than 3 years. Starting by volunteering at events, she grew in service by becoming President of the VSH’s Junior Board. There were numerous challenges, including the growth of membership, creating awareness of the organization, and defining a vision that would serve staff, residents, and the community. Leslee recognized and became committed to addressing these.
With these concerns in mind, she played a key role in putting Habit 3 to action (Put First Things First) to identify that the initial focus was to raise awareness of VSH and its mission throughout Central Virginia. A successful public event called “Hops for Housing” was held that not only promoted awareness of VSH but also resulted in recruitment of new Jr. Board members, volunteers, and financial resources.
Leslee’s commitment to leadership in this role has, and will continue to impact the lives of individuals, families, and communities for the near and distant future. We are proud and confident that she will succeed in her MBA program and will represent Longwood University as she continues to flourish in her career.
