In an impromptu celebration of the summer spirit, Longwood University’s College of Business & Economics offered solace and happiness in the delightful world of frozen treats.  As temperatures skyrocketed to an unseasonably 77° last week, students in the CBE enjoyed an ice cream social – the perfect remedy for the unusually warm weather.

David Zirkle, Executive Director of CBE Student Success and A/P Faculty in Economics, explained, "Because of a hiccup with our heating system, the dean suggested that we get ice cream for Friday.  The students really appreciated it.  It took what could have been a miserable day and made it fun."

While the heating system is back in working order, the dean will be hosting additional ice cream socials throughout the semester.
