Ashley Kaleta, the 2024-2025 recipient of the MBA Scholarship offered by the SNVC Institute, has demonstrated leadership both inside and outside the classroom. She completed her undergraduate degree at Longwood University and held numerous leadership positions.
Her leadership roles include co-founding a new organization on campus during the height of COVID called “the WOOD.” The purpose of this club is to allow collaboration among artists. She held both the Vice President and the Photography Chair positions and feels this experience helped develop important leadership skills for planning and hosting meetings. She also believes these roles enhanced her people skills, especially when disagreements prevailed.
She is a sorority alumna of Alpha Sigma Alpha and held the Health and Wellness Chair position as an undergraduate. Planning, organizing, and executing events were further enhanced in these roles.
She carried out the duties of the Parliamentarian Chair as a member of the Order of Omega Greek honorary organization. In this capacity she believes it helped her to stay connected to member attentiveness and understand how important standards are for effective meetings. As a member of yet another honorary organization, the Mortar Board, she served as the Historian Chair, capturing pictures and videos for future members.
Her commitment to leadership skills development is complimented by her desire to help others grow and develop these skills.
Ashley recognized her desire to improve continuously and sought ways to enhance her skills within the context of diversity as a voluntary participant in GELE (Greek Emerging Leadership Experience). She believes this opportunity has helped her be a better listener and actively understand things from another’s perspective. Often challenging, this skill is critical when seeking strong outcomes, especially when facing unpleasant situations.
The 7 Habits training addresses the development of skills for effectiveness in many areas, which Ashley has demonstrated in the various roles she has experienced. She will undoubtedly continue to grow in future leadership roles that she chooses in her bright future career.
