  • Franklin Federal Art Scholarship: A non-renewable scholarship that is merit-based and evaluated through portfolio submission. Offered to a full-time Art (Art Education/Studio) or GAND student.

  • Jane Aman Liepis Research Award for the Arts: A non-renewable scholarship that is need/merit-based and evaluated through portfolio submission. Offered to a full-time Art Major (Printmaking/Book Arts, Crafts, Drawing/Painting).

The purpose of the research award it to honor Jane Aman Liepis and her family’s long history with Longwood University’s art program as well as their passion for art and creative work in society by affording Longwood University students unique opportunities to conduct undergraduate research in the visual arts. Encouraging undergraduates to engage in research activity enhances the learning experience and helps to develop investigative skills. Award recipients should be guided by a full-time faculty sponsor and funds used to defray costs associated with the research project. All students in the visual arts are eligible to apply. Proposed projects will be evaluated and selection made by a faculty committee of the Art Department.

Mr. and Mrs. Liepis envision that these research awards may be awarded to students that would flourish and thrive due to an undergraduate research experience. It is their hope that the opportunity to participate in an undergraduate research project might be the spark that sets a student on his or her path to success.
