Laura Sallade is a New York artist who maintains a studio practice in Philadelphia. She investigates the relationship between light and material, creating partially reflective works through both analytical and intuitive processes, such as chemical reactions, math, optics, memory, and play. Referencing our transient perception of light, the artist uses glass, silver nitrate, and mylar in a multi-layered process of arrangement, embodying formations of flux and creating intense depth within a two dimensional surface. Involving both the space and the viewer, these evocative gestural works walk the line between image and object, inviting viewers to embrace mystery and paradox.
