Admissions Requirements

International Freshman Requirements

To complete an application for undergraduate admissions, follow the steps below:

  1. Complete and submit the international application through Common Application and submit the $50 application fee.
  2. Send certified official, original transcripts as well as any leaving certificate scores from all secondary institutions with certified English translations and evaluations with an explanation of grading system/scale

    Secondary Education: Proof of successful completion of secondary education (e.g., secondary school transcripts, final exam scores, diploma) with certified English translations. Longwood recognizes the value of the International Baccalaureate diploma and will award transfer credits for IB exams

    Curriculum: Qualified students will have studied math, science, history, their native language, and a foreign language during the completion of secondary school

  3. Verify English language proficiency. See the English Proficiency requirements
  4. Complete and submit Undergraduate Financial Certification Form (pdf), along with the bank statements
  5. Submit a copy of the information page in your passport

International Transfer Requirements

To complete an application for undergraduate transfer admissions, follow the steps below:

  1. Complete and submit the international application through Common Application and submit the $50 application fee.
  2. Send certified official, original transcripts from all post-secondary institutions with certified English translations and evaluations with an explanation of grading system/scale, proof of secondary school graduation
  3. Submit Undergraduate Financial Certification Form (pdf) along with bank statements
  4. Submit a copy of the information page in your passport

Additional Requirements

International Applicants Transferring from a University in the U.S.

  • Non-native English speakers who have studied at a university in the U.S. for 2 or more years are not required to submit any English language proficiency scores
  • Non-native English speakers who have completed less than 1 year of study at a U.S. university, please submit English language proficiency scores

International Applicants Transferring from a University Outside of the U.S.

  • Send certified course-by-course evaluation for all post-secondary level studies completed outside of the U.S. at institutions that do not hold regional accreditation in the United States. GPA and Degree equivalencies must be included with your course-by-course evaluation. All fees charged by translators or external evaluators must be paid by the student. We require an evaluation from World Education Services (WES) and SpanTran.

English Proficiency Requirements

Proof of English Language Proficiency for non-native speakers of English through one of the following:

International Applicants who meet the academic requirements, but do not meet required English proficiency may apply for the English Language Bridge Program (EBP).

  • TOEFL score of 60-79
  • IELTS score of 5.0-6.5
  • Duolingo score of 95-110
  • Cambridge score of B1 or B2

Native English Speaker

International Admissions will contact Native speakers of English to determine which additional standardized test scores may be required.

International Baccalaureate Diplomas

TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo/Cambridge requirement is waived for applicants who have earned an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

Cost

Longwood University requires the following minimum annual support, which is considered sufficient to support a basic student lifestyle.

Tuition and Fees: $27,980
Room: $9,040
Meal Plan: $5,115
Total: $42,135

Scholarships

Merit-based Scholarships – Freshman Applicants only

Longwood recognizes and rewards outstanding academic achievement, strong leadership and good citizenship. Students earning a GPA of 3.0 and higher are eligible to receive merit scholarships. Priority consideration is given to students who apply by Dec 1. These annual awards are renewable for all four years for those who meet that renewal criteria.

Merit Scholarships for Freshman Applicants

Cormier Honors College Scholarship

Students accepted into the Cormier Honors College may receive additional scholarships, including two full rides, also renewable for four years.

Athletics Scholarships for NCAA Division I Sports

Partial and full scholarships are available. Contact the coach directly and request more information.

Admissions Information

Applications will be considered complete when International Admissions receive the application fee, official school transcripts and required test scores. 

Although not required, SAT scores will be reviewed, if submitted, and may qualify an applicant for larger scholarship awards.

Longwood reserves the right to request additional information, should it be deemed necessary to make an admission decision.
